Colorado #1 in Overnight Skier Visits in mountain real estate Nationwide.

By Jeff Angell

The polls are in and Colorado mountain real estate is still the top overnight ski place to be! On the heals of a record breaking snow year that also caused some record breaking closures of I-70 due to heavy snows and winter storms (making locations like Frisco real estate very popular) Colorado is still the choice for skiers for overnight ski trips and stays in locations like Frisco Colorado.

From the Longwoods International report Colorado continued to be the number-one ski destination for overnight trips in the U.S. for 2007 even under increased competition from other states. Owners of CO real estate in and around ski resorts such as Frisco CO enjoyed a terrific rental season when around 28 million Americans took overnight ski trips to Colorado in 2007 and stayed in key places such as Frisco homes and other mountain real estate (up about 1.1 million from 2006).

The same report showed that travel spending hit record numbers as well with around 9.8 billion dollars, a 10 percent increase over 2006. Nationwide Colorado represented 20 percent of all national overnight ski trips to land Colorado in the number one position. Which is one reasons mountain real estate remains in demand and places like Frisco Colorado enjoyed a brisk and active winter season. Although this percentage was down 3 percent from 2006 which has been attributed to increased western ski resort as well as poor weather in Colorado making it difficult if not impossible for skiers to reach their Colorado destination.

The same difficulty of getting to the ski resorts could be one reason for increased lodging taking place in Frisco Property as well as other Colorado Real Estate near ski towns like Breckenridge and Frisco.

While the number of days skiers visited Colorado resorts went down the amount of tourist dollars spent went up in double digit increases. Lodging prices continue to increase along with the decrease in the length of stay from areas outside of Colorado’s Front Range went from a previous 5 night stay per visit down to 4.3 nights in 2007.

Summer speculation due to the increase in gas cost will keep travelers closer to home; which may mean more Front Range visitors to the high country and fewer out of state visitors.
